I think this will be the first yearthat my first will really enjoy Halloween. He’s asked to get a costume and he’sreally looking forward to dressing up. He loves fire fighters, trains, dinosaurs, cars, trucks and the natural world so he’s got a lot of choice of things to dress up as! I think we might get him a dinosaur or fire fighters costume. I’m not sure how we are going to do the trick-or-treating because we need someone to stay home to make sure that the trick-or-treaters get some candy! I think I’ll probably take the kids and the hubby and stay home and hand out the candy.  He’ll hate that! 😉  I don’t know about you but I really enjoy the first part of Halloween but a bit later in the evening I always fee like things get a bit sinister.  Maybe not really but some of the kids who come later in the evening can be a bit intimidating. Anyways we’ve been reading some Halloween books to get us in the mood. I have been looking at some recommendations – Halloween books for Preschoolers.  There are a lot of good books there. I really like Room on a Broom and 10 Little monsters. My kids like them a lot- I think they’re great rhyming books. But I like anything by Julia Donaldson.  I also like the Autumn booklist they have.  The recommendations are really good and I’m thinking of getting a few more from that list. I’m planning to do some really messy Halloween themed play stuff with the kids. Some slime or jelly would probably go down really well! They love messy play! I might throw in some other silly surprises in there too and see what they think!
